The BC government has released an action plan with the goal of improving access to end-of-life care. The plan proposes redesigning health services to deliver coordinated end-of-life care (including expansion in telehealth and telemonitoring); providing individuals, caregivers, and health care providers with palliative care information, education, tools, and resources; and strengthening health system accountability and efficiency, including implementing provincial end-of-life care clinical guidelines, protocols, and standards.
The action plan can be found at www.health.gov.bc.ca/library/publications/year/2013/end-of-life-care-act... [8].
