The International League Against Epilepsy and the International Bureau for Epilepsy have given their Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr Juhn A. Wada, professor emeritus in the DeĀpartment of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia.
Dr Wada developed a test for cerebral hemispheric dominance of language function, commonly known as the Wada test, which is now performed on most epilepsy patients considering surgery. Dr Wada also created the first surgical epilepsy program and seizure investigation monitoring unit in the province, at UBC Hospital.
