Dr Andrew Eisen, a founding director of the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Society of British Columbia, was presented with a British Columbia Community Achievement Award on 25 April at Government House in Victoria.
Dr Eisen has been an active volunteer on the ALS Society board since 1981, and now serves as a honorary life director. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes Dr Eisen as a brilliant and compassionate physician and neurologist, and a pioneer in the field of clinical neurophysiology. He has written many books and scientific papers, including an article on ALS published in the September 2002 issue of the BCMJ (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: A review, BCMJ 2002;44:362-366 [8]).
